A webring is a convenient system of linking together a group of similarly-themed sites in a circular fashion. The link on one member site leads to the next, and so on until you arrive back where you started. Different links can also take you backwards or to a random site in the ring with equal ease.
The Parrot Head Webring uses a central hub system to make creating and managing a single webring fun, easy and reliable.
The Parrot Head Webring was started in 1997. It was created by one of the Parrot Head world's most beloved figures, Billy Peoples. With the help of his staff the webring quickly became the definitive webring of the Parrot Head world. The Parrot Head Webring has even been listed on Margaritaville!
In just over a decade the Parrot Head Webring has connected over 500 active websites in one ring hub! Some of the sites you will find in the Parrot Head Webring are the parent organization of Parrot Head Clubs around the world and hosts of Meeting Of The Minds, Parrot Heads in Paradise, a plethora of parrot head Clubs and a ton of TropRock artists including The Boat Drunks!
Recently, the (former) webhost of The Parrot Head Webring completely changed their format. This caused many problems for our webring and did away with many of the unique characteristics that the Parrot Head Webring offered. This caused a huge (temporary) disruption among all of the great sites that made up our webring....until now!
With the changes made on the former webhost of the webring and after many years of service, our beloved Billy Peoples has decided that it was time to pass the torch on to someone who shares the same enthusiasm and love of the Parrot Head Webring as he. Now, the Parrot Head Webring is no longer at the mercy of a "parent" webring host. Rather, it is in the hands of a true Parrot Head dedicated to serving the PH community whenever possible and who is always the first to lend a hand to a "phriend" in need. The Parrot Head Webring will never have to endure such a disruption again and has now finally found a home of it's own! The Parrot Head Webring LIVES ON!
In a word, exposure, exposure exposure! OK, that was three words but you get the idea. The Parrot Head Webring is THE BEST, largest, and fastest growing Parrot Head/Jimmy Buffett webring on the internet. Our members vary from informational sites, PHIP Clubs, sellers of "parrotphernalia", phan tribute pages, Buffett tribute bands, and even members of the Coral Reefer Band! Musical talent is always being sought out by various Parrot Head Clubs to play at one of their events. SpoonerRadio is always on the hunt for new and talented musicians to broadcast. How do these and other pholks find this new talent? The answer is by surfing the Parrot Head Webring! Membership DEFINITELY has it's privileges!
Myspace pages will most certainly be taken into consideration. However, your myspace page MUST have a dedicated URL (i.e. your URL MUST have a word extension NOT a number variable) and it MUST also meet the requirements that pertain to joining the ring. Myspace pages are also subject to approval and must not contain any sort of pornographic, obscene or material that is found to be in bad taste.
First and foremost...The Parrot Head Webring does not condone the illegal use of trademarked or copyrighted material! ALL of the graphics contained herein and used on the Parrot Head Webring are COPYRIGHTED PROPERTY of The Parrot Head Webring and MUST not be used for any other purpose except to display your ring codes!!! The term "Parrot Head" or "parrothead" or any combination thereof is the copyrighted material of Jimmy Buffett/Margaritaville and is not to be used without the proper consent from them!!!
If you have a website which fits in with the tropical lifestyle, Parrot Head-ism, boating/sailing, Jimmy Buffett and the lifestyle he sings about or if you are a related artist you can easily request that your site be added by clicking the "Join Ring" link in the Control Panel. Select a username and password (alphanumerics only) for your account and then just fill out the form with your site information. Your page MUST project your love of the Island/Parrothead/Buffett music and lifestyle. We want people to go to your page and have a feeling of having been to a place where the owner is unmistakably a Parrothead and or is a fan of Jimmy Buffett. Your page may have images of or text describing how the music or lifestyle has affected your life etc.
Commercial sites, bands that play Island/Parrothead/Buffett style music and PHIP or Parrothead clubs are welcome, provided that, in the opinion of the Parrot Head Webring Staff, the product(s), service(s) or information provided would UNDOUBTEDLY appeal to a MAJORITY of Parrotheads and/or Buffett fans.
The Parrot Head Webring staff will be happy to help you with any questions you have. Please don't hesitate to ask, if you have any. We want to include every applicant, but we want to keep the quality of the ring as high as possible at the same time. If you receive a denial, find out why, correct those reasons and re-apply. WE WANT YOU!
To avoid spam this site utilizes an Image Authentication system (CAPTCHA) to the Add Site process. When signing up you will find an image containing some lines and numbers will appear along with a small input box. To confirm your application, just type the numbers you see into the input box below the image.
Once you've submitted your site, you will receive a fragment of HTML code which contains and/or delivers the navigation bar for this ring. You will need to paste this code on your webpage at the URI you submitted with your application.
Once the navigation bar is active at your site, a ring administrator will review your application and, if found acceptable, will approve your site for membership. YOU WILL HAVE 21 DAYS... to post the Webring HTML Code Fragment to your page and qualify for membership. Sites remaining in the queue for longer than three weeks (21 days) without adding the Webring HTML Code Fragment and notifying the Parrot Head Webring Staff to COMMENCE VOTING will be deleted automatically without further notice. Those sites must resubmit the appropriate information and receive a new site id number to be added to the queue again for review.
We take pride in the Parrot Head Webring. We occasionally surf member's web pages for Quality Assurance. All sites must have the ring code/graphics on their member page or a viable and clearly distinct link to the ring code site. And, of course, the site contents should continue to reflect the owner's love for Parrotheadism and that lifestyle. If a member's site has changed its main focus so that it is no longer reflective of the Parrot Head Webring's main objective, has removed the Parrothead Web ring code, does not have a valid URL or viable email address they will be deleted from membership. Don't worry - we'll tell you if that happens to you.
A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. It is important that you click on the "confirm" link that is in that email. If you do not see the email in your inbox, check your spam/bulk/junk folders. You will find the confirmation email in one of those folders almost instantaneously after joining. If you've submitted a site, whether or not your site has been approved, you can log in to your account using the Control Panel. From here you can click "Edit Details" to bring up your personal member control panel where you can change almost any element of your account, and even remove your site from the ring altogether.
If your site has been approved, you can change your account status freely between Active and Hibernating. When your site is hibernating, clicks from the ring will not be directed to your site. Use this feature when you expect your site to be down or under construction, and don't want to break the ring.
The Parrot Head Webring also keeps detailed statistics which you can visit either by clicking the "Statistics" link in the Control Panel, or one of the small icons next to each Site Title on the Ring Hub. The icon links will reveal in-depth statistics about each site in the ring. Make sure you check them out to keep track of how your site is doing!
After you confirmed your email address you can log on to the Parrot Head Webring and start working on promoting your website. You will need to add the Parrot Head Webring codes to your website. You only need to choose one. The only thing you will need to edit in the code is the graphics that you use. You MUST host your own graphics. Your site will not be approved if you are linking to one of the graphics here. You can use any of our official graphics listed below but you MUST host them on your own site!
The tables below are what the codes will look like on your website. You can opt for any of our official graphics in place of another. We have added the classic tables and graphics for you to choose form as well as the new Parrot Head Webring logo. The tables below are listed order. When you log on to your account for the first time you will see a large block of coding. These codes are what you see below in the exact order as they appear on this page.
Choose any code you like but only ONE should be posted on your website! You can come back to your user panel here to change the code anytime you wish. On the old system you had to remember your ring id. With our new system the codes that appear in your user panel have your ring id built into the code itself. So all you need to do is copy and paste a code into your website. But remember, graphics MUST be hosted on your own server! That is the only change you will have to make.
If you are unfamiliar with coding you can simply open up a new window with our "Help" page in your new browser. This will help you identify which code snipet will give you which table. The codes and tables below are in the exact same order. Each code begins with <----Begin Parrot Head Webring---> and ends with <---End Parrot Head Webring---> Just copy which code you like, make sure you add in the URL of where you uploaded the graphics and paste it into the webpage of your choice! That's all there is to it!

Below are all of the official Parrot head Webring graphics. Choose whichever you like but make sure you host them on your own server!!! Please remember, if you are using a double graphic table the "home" graphic goes on the left side and the "next" graphic goes on the right side. More graphics will be added as we cruise along. Check back here periodically to see what's new!

Here are a few more that you can use. These graphics were created and submitted by phriends and supporters of the Parrot Head Webring. These are some more from the "Classics Collection." OK, perhaps you have retained some of what was said. Perhaps it all sounds Greek to you. Well, let's recap in one shot to help you get started:
1) Click on the Join The Ring button in the control panel on the right side of this screen. Enter in all of your appropriate information and then hit submit.
2) Check your inbox or spam/bulk/junk folders of the email address you submitted when you joined. Click on the confirmation link, log in and proceed to your user panel on the right side of the screen.
3) When you first log in you will find a block of code snippets. Each one beings with <---Begin Parrot Head Webring Fragment---> and ends with <---End Parrot Head Webring Fragment--->. Each one of those code blocks will generate a table on your website. Match up the codes with the table graphics on this page to see which one you want (1st code block = 1st table graphic and so on).
4) Right click and save any graphics you will be using for your Parrot Head Webring table. Upload them to your webhost or anywhere else you want your graphics to be hosted. The important thing to remember is DO NOT link to the graphics on this site!
5) Copy and paste the codes you have chosen into your webpage. Paste the URL of your UPLOADED graphics into the code (where the graphics go i.e. http://www.phwebring.jpg). This is THE only change you have to make. After you have finished that, save your page and you are done.
6) Grab a margarita, crank up the Buffett and go surfing...on the Parrot Head Webring that is!!!!!
A "Hit" is recorded whenever a user arrives at a site because of a Parrot Head Webring link. Arrivals via the Ring Hub links and from Navigation Bars on other member sites will all add Hits to your site totals.
A "Click" is recorded whenever a user leaves a member site via a Parrot Head Webring link. Direct Clicks from the Ring Hub aren't recorded, only those from member Navigation Bars' "Next", "Previous" and "Random" links. Because of this, the Clicks totals are accurate reflections of how much the Parrot Head Webring Navigation Bars are being used.
Essentially, total Hits are how many visitors a site is receiving because of ring membership, while total Clicks are how many visitors a site is generating for the rest of the ring.
Additionally, you can check out how the Parrot Head Webring is sending traffic to your website with the statistics button in the control panel. Hey...have phun pholks! The Parrot Head Webring is happy to have you!
